Jess and I had a phenomenal day today. You see, it was Sunday, and Sunday’s in Denver are amazing. I work every other Saturday, and half of the time I don’t work Saturdays we end up going out of town, so Sundays are the days for fun and for getting things done. This Sunday was no exception.
We started the day with brunch at City O City with Shanna Katz and LP. City O City is super yum; they’re coffee is delicious, and I can’t get enough of it. We shared some seitan wings and then I had a pizza. It had apricot preserves, roasted garlic, green olives, brie, and mozzarella. It was to die for! Yay for brunch! It has become our favorite meal to share with friends.
After brunch we headed next door to the Buffalo Exchange to pick up some ties for Jess. She has started to wear them a lot lately, so we’re slowly growing her collection with affordable ties in an assortment of colors. We picked up two today, one purple, one black. And we only spent $12!
After our morning fun time, we came home and picked up Izzie. We’re working on getting her to associate car rides with fun things, so we hopped in the car and headed to Washington Park. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and I drive by on the way to work every day, but I hadn’t had the opportunity to walk around and experience it. Izzie loves parks, the sun was shining, and it wasn’t too hot. We had a wonderful time in the park together as a family.
Next we headed to the dog wash. Izzie smells horrible (well, at least she did before her bath today.) Jess didn’t want me to wash her in the tub at home because all of her hair would clog up the drain. Plus bending over the edge of the tub while bathing her hurts my back. It took less than 5 minutes because of the hose/nozzle thing. Amazing!
And then we came home. Jess had the brilliant idea to groom her ourselves, so we busted out the clippers. The results were mixed. See for yourself above.
Last but not least, we watched the “True Blood” season finale. Courtney and Rachel came over to watch it with us, and it was an incredible episode. And it’s always so good to see Courtney and Rachel. Add some Chinese take-out and some laundry, and our day couldn’t have been better! It was equal parts fun and productive, and I wouldn’t have changed it for anything!
